How
to Join Our Reviewer
Panels
Thank you for your interest in MedicoLegal Consultants.
Perhaps you will consider joining
our select group of physicians
and surgeons and other health-care experts. These highly
competent professionals have agreed to serve as consultants and case
reviewers in a
variety of health-related legal and administrative
proceedings. Many perform independent
medical reviews and
examinations. Our clients include plaintiffs' and defense
attorneys,
insurance companies, regulatory and professional
agencies and private individuals
nationwide.
There are openings for reviewers in virtually all medical and
paramedical specialties and subspecialties.
Reviewers generally
examine original medical documents for evidence of error or possible
malpractice. In
most cases, a short (less than one page) written
report is required. They are not required to participate in
formal
legal proceedings such as depositions, hearings or trials.
Occasionally, a sworn affidavit is needed.
Some members of our expert
panels also wish to work as reviewers.
Our hourly fee scale
for case reviewers is $125-150 for board-certified physicians and
surgeons, $100 for non
board-certified physicians, dentists and Ph.D.
scientists, $75 for nurses (R.N.), pharmacists, podiatrists,
chiropractors and paramedics. There is a three hour maximum per case
which includes the report. Additional
time for lengthy cases may be
arranged in advance.
Case assignment is a complex matter and depends mostly on our clients'
requirements and the availability of
reviewers in a particular field and
geographic region. Consequently, we cannot guarantee that a reviewer will
be offered a certain number of cases.
